Healing and Your Goal Weight

Weight is something many of us are struggling with. Often when we think about weight loss we only concentrate on calories, water and exercise. Today I want to talk about the missing variable, healing.
I have been trying to get back to my comfortable weight, the weight where I felt good in my body. I began to realize that it was not necessarily my weight that was making me feel bad. That perhaps my weight wasn’t just about pounds it was about a lot more than that. I was trying to hide pain.
We often use food to medicate ourselves. Food is a way to push down what we don’t want to feel. In a strange way, we are addicted to the food and it is usually a particular kind of food, for some carbohydrates and for others sugar. To push down what we are hiding, we must have a hit of that food. I really truly believe that weight is a side effect of not dealing with the pain in our life.
