How to Have a Stress-free Holiday the Gentle Bear Way!

Gentle Bear Holiday

At this time of year my mind returns to the stress I felt other Christmas seasons. My emotions were all over the place. One moment I felt happy, the next moment I was filled with sadness about missed loved ones. I was running too fast, being so busy, that I found myself touchy and quick to take slight. I left many things to the last minute and found myself in a panic.

As the holidays approach, I’d like to talk about some ways to keep the joy in the season. With the benefit of hindsight, I have learned that in all you do, it is important to choose our health and well-being first. How do you choose your health and well-being? For me, every situation is better when you are breathing in a healthy way. When I take that deep breath, I am taking the time to slow down and enjoy the moment.

I find that any activities that de-stress me are helpful. For me the most important are meditation and acupressure. I enjoy a walking meditation or the moving meditation of Qigong. The gentle touch of acupressure on the body truly changes how you feel and the amount of energy you have. Every situation is easier to approach when you feel a harmony in your body and mind. In my last video, I demonstrated two acupressure points that will help deal with holiday stress.

Another way is to prioritize what is absolutely necessary and fits exactly what it is you want to do. I found that so many of the activities I was involved with were not essential. Your time is precious, and your presence is a gift. The holiday season is an opportunity to show those you care about that you value them. A gentle touch and eye contact is more valuable than any gift, and says that they matter to you.

I believe it all starts with you being gentle and kind to yourself. Doing the practical things that need to be done to create space to enjoy the people and activities that you value. How about setting yourself up for success; be in the best place this holiday season.
